Getting legally married in Manhattan
A New York State marriage license can be used for a Manhattan wedding. If you apply through the New York City Clerk, follow its current Project Cupid instructions for appointments, identification and fees. Confirm the issuing clerk’s requirements before arranging your ceremony.
New York generally requires the license to be issued at least 24 hours before the ceremony, unless a court grants a waiver. A marriage license is ordinarily valid for 60 days. Bring the license to the ceremony and confirm the details with your officiant beforehand.
